JBL Sound became the exclusive audio equipment service provider for the 2019 "Dream-Making · Bird's Nest" large-scale audiovisual light and shadow show
This year, the event is still co-hosted by the National Stadium Co., Ltd., the China Stage Art Society, and Beijing Beiao Dalu Stage Art Design and Production Co., Ltd. The renowned director Lu Jiankang, who previously served as the chief director for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics and is currently the chairman of Beiao Dalu, acts as the overall planner. Ma Lu, vice president of the China Stage Art Society, and young lighting designer Lu Zhen serve as the visual directors, bringing together a group of top lighting and stage designers to create a large-scale audio-visual light and shadow show as a tribute to the motherland and a demonstration of China's cultural soft power to the world.
In 2018, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the successful hosting of the Beijing Olympics and to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of reform and opening up, "Dreaming of the Nest" made a stunning debut.
With four chapters: "Wings of Light," "Transformation of Light," "Song of Light," and "Dream of Light," it presented various scenarios such as "Rebirth," "Ancient Civilizations," "Modern Light," "Time Travel," "Dreaming Back to the Olympics," "Song of the Olympics," "Building the Chinese Dream Together," and "Light of the Future," evoking pride, emotion, and anticipation in the audience. In 2019, "Dreaming of the Nest" continued to be divided into four chapters, themed around "National Dream," "Chinese Dream," "Reform Dream," and "Revitalization Dream." It broke through the constraints of traditional technology and integrated multimedia art to create a large-scale audio-visual light and shadow show in China, delivering a stunning audio-visual effect that combined art and technology.
For the creative team behind "Dreaming of the Nest," this is not only a gift to the motherland but also an important opportunity to showcase China's achievements in professional audio-visual production, artistic creation, and manufacturing to the world, highlighting the wisdom and civilization of the Chinese people.
For two consecutive years, Jazz Audio has been the exclusive sound reinforcement service provider for the large-scale audio-visual light and shadow show "Dreaming of the Nest." Faced with the higher audio-visual requirements set for the 2019 show, they provided the flagship JPRO series dual 12-inch three-way linear array speaker system. The JPRO line array speakers were developed entirely in-house and have received multiple national technology patents.
This sound reinforcement system primarily serves the guest area on the second level of the west stand of the Bird's Nest, which is the best platform for visual effects. The JPRO line array speakers are suspended in four groups under the canopy, while the low-frequency J218SUB is placed on the first level track, creating a significant phase difference between the full-range and low-frequency sounds.
To better optimize the auditory experience, Jazz Audio incorporated an acoustical phase processor (APC460L) developed by a Chinese company, featuring 4096-order FIR digital filtering, which effectively and quickly calibrates the listening experience in the audience area. Additionally, as the signal routing at the Bird's Nest exceeds 300 meters, Jazz Audio decided to use fiber optic transmission to ensure signal fidelity and system stability.
The 2019 "Dreaming of the Nest" large-scale audio-visual light and shadow show will run from June 18 to October 30, with performances every day from 19:30 to 21:30, each lasting 30 minutes, and four shows in a cycle. The duration of the show and the number of performances pose a challenge to the production team and the products and services of various equipment manufacturers. However, with the successful experience from 2018 and the overall improvement in production and service levels in the industry, we have reason to believe that this grand audio-visual feast will also be successfully completed.
